Whitetail Bucks are Growing Velvet Antlers!

Good news! The whitetail bucks are currently growing velvet antlers. The one shown in these photographic images is growing one longer velvet antler on his left side. It will be nice to follow the rapid antler growth of his antlers in subsequent photo shoots! Deer antlers are probably the fastest know bone growth in the animal kingdom. He looks to be a fairly young deer; probably only a year and a half old. Maybe two? In any case, this whitetail buck isn't very old. I wonder if he will have a non-typical rack this year?
